To Install

  1. Download and install the latest release

    The Download button takes you to the newest release on GitHub. Your browser may ask whether to keep the file. Choose yes, then open the .exe once it's downloaded.

  2. Get past the Windows warning

    Windows will show a blue Windows protected your PC box. Click More info, then the Run anyway button that appears underneath.

  3. Complete Onboarding

    A short guided setup checks your controller, verifies drivers, and then walks through usage, appearance, and configuration. You can re-run Onboarding any time from Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Troubleshooting ▸ Run First-Run Setup.

The Windows protected your PC alert

Microsoft SmartScreen warns about any program it has not seen many people run before. A new release from an indie dev like me starts from zero, so it gets flagged. The warning can eventually go away as more people run it.

Click More info and then the Run anyway button. If you would rather verify the source, Radiata is open source software: review the code or build it yourself from the GitHub repository.

HidHide and ViGEmBus

The first-run wizard offers to install two drivers, HidHide and ViGEmBus. Both are signed, open source, and widely used by other controller tools.

You can choose to decline them. If you do, you'll be locked into Passthru Mode, where the game keeps seeing your controller while a wheel is up. This kind of bleed-thru is annoying and not recommended. You can add the drivers later from Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Install/Repair Drivers.

Platform & requirements

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit

  • No separate runtime to install.
  • Two optional signed open-source controller drivers install on first run: HidHide and ViGEmBus.
  • Certain features require free API configuration on supported services: SteamGridDB for game art, and Discord for instant join/leave voice chats.

Controllers

  • If joy.cpl sees it, it should work. Hardware-tested with DInput, XInput, Bluetooth, USB, Wireless dongles, and first & third-party controllers.
  • Xbox and XInput pads: Microsoft, GameSir, 8bitdo, and others work great over wired or bluetooth.
  • Sony and DInput pads: All the summon options of Microsoft pads, plus the option to use trackpad swipes if you want. DS Edge can even use its dedicated Fn buttons.

Uninstalling Radiata

Settings ▸ Advanced ▸ Uninstall Radiata removes the startup entry, the HidHide registration, and Radiata's own files. The shared drivers and your settings are separate, off-by-default opt-ins during uninstallation.
